Place of Birth: Hamilton, Ontario.

Black Cat: Would you make a list off the top of your head about things you are passionate about:
Sarah Joncas: Painting, first and foremost! But I can be very passionate about all my cultural tastes – in music, movies, art, books…  I love the dark and moody, the surreal, things that give me the creeps (though surprisingly don’t care for horror so much. I prefer things more subtle and psychological).  I like learning about and seeing animals, I like bones, and so long as their behind glass, I enjoy insects.

Black Cat:    Who is Michael Maschka?
Michael  Maschka: Isn´t that a question that pursues us our whole live? Isn´t man a mystery to himself and to others? Amongst other reasons I paint to get in contact with my subconscious as well as the unconscious side of live in order to find an answer to that question.
B.C.: Could you tell us some more about your art work?
M.M.: What I want is to let the spiritual realities manifested in myth become a sensual experience. This could be called the credo of my art work.

Place of birth: Peekskill, New York
Black Cat: I know that you studied in Rome, I’m from Rome  and I can easily imagine how this ancient city can influence an artist… but how important do you think it is for artists to know about art history, and why?
Steven Kenny:   I was very sheltered as a young artist. My artistic awareness expanded exponentially when I got to Rome. Suddenly I was surrounded by thousands of years worth of the greatest art that has ever been created. This had an enormous effect on my development. I always tell young artists never to stop studying art history. There is so much inspiration to draw from and learn about that will always enrich an artist’s growth.
